The ECAC Gauntlet

Here we go. For the next eight consecutive weekends (seven for the women), there are no breaks. There is no reprieve. This is the ECAC, and this is the stretch during which contenders are defined and pretenders are cast aside.

It's extra special this weekend - four games at home, two for the ladies and two for the men for the only time this season.

For the women, it's the start of a four game homestand, and it's a straight gauntlet of some of the league's best - Dartmouth this afternoon, Harvard tomorrow, and then Cornell next Friday. That's rough. But a point here or a point there, and you've got something going forward.

For the men, the North Country is in town, a pair of teams that RPI fans of every stripe should know well. Tonight is the traditional rivalry between Clarkson (sucks). Tomorrow, it's St. Lawrence. You need no introduction.

Can the women get their second half off on the right foot against tough competition and extend their six game unbeaten streak? Can the men make it five and six straight wins with a weekend sweep that would also make it nine wins in ten games?

With inspiration from the men's warmup track, here's a little something to get you psyched for the beginning of the most important stretch of the year. It's censored, don't worry.

  1. I'm sad to say, that despite this may be one of the best weekends for RPI Hockey, I may be missing all of it. I've never missed a home game for either team before. On behalf of the RED Army, I do apologize.
